Once swapped with the 12 MHz one, there will be no difference.

I was about to make a small circuit in order to overclock the MEMC1A chip I had just received, but I suddenly thought back of @alexh's last post.

I then remembered that RISC OS 3.10 wasn't happy with different timings on an Archie 3000 and won't let the machine boot if timings were altered.

So my aborted overclock experience ends here...

I would like to thanks alexh for his post, which opened my eyes and helped me not to go in a wrong direction.

The Archie A3000 is now complete and works great and reliably:

When time allows, I will have to check all the Internet related stuff and see if I can go online.

Still pending though are the HD floppy mod and the 8MB RAM expansion, but it will be for later.

This machine was a great fun to repair and is really a nice little piece of hardware.

Very nice, it's really well tricked out now.

Have you tried any networking tools yet? I use Sunfish and Moonfish for connecting to network shares or making them on my A5000. I might have another go at getting LanMan98 working, but as long as NFS works I'm good, not to mention that I have the Zip Drive too, which works a treat. I can reach the internet using ping easily, but web browsers or FTP clients, well I've not had much luck. I think doubling up to 8MB would help, but it's not a cheap upgrade.

I'll spend more time on it when I can and report back :)

Yep, I know what you mean, I found with Sunfish, the NFS client, it really chewed through RAM at quite a rate and sometimes I hit memory errors. Can't recall if I tried Arcweb or not.

Oddly, it's counterpart, Moonfish, which is an NFS server is really light on memory and works just fine. I've not had much luck with games so far, mostly because they tend to use screen modes that my LCD doesn't like.

I need to find a better way to display, but it isn't high on my list of priorities at the moment.

It's been a long time since my last post in this thread.

Yesterday and today I managed to find some free time to tinker with my ethernet podule.

Getting it to work was simpler than I thought, but I cannot say it was plug and play either...

I now use Uniboot2 instead of Uniboot31 due to the fact I couldn't get the podule to work with the last one.

After setting the Inetsetup app, I also had to change some parameters in the Startup file.

Omniclient and FTPc are already installed in the Archie and I now have to figure how to connect to my Mac (but cleaning my desktop of its dust is more urgent). :oops:
