One of my colleagues at uni had one...and could remember the 6502 assembler for a scrolling message on the top of the display...and that was back in 1984

Yes - I'm sure there would be a listing for it somewhere (and it was only a few hundred bytes of code - if that)...typing in a listing from a magazine would certainly bring back the retro vibe (probably not done that for over 30 years now...) :roll:

Well, the keycaps arrived from the US today:

They really are super nice quality double shot plastic keys, and I did a quick test and they fit perfectly on my key switches. I was confident they would, but it's always a relief to confirm :)

The space bar even comes with all the parts for the stabiliser mechanism, so it should be really nice once they are all installed. Got a bit more to do first with the rest of the diodes/resistors/capacitors, but things are definitely moving apace.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Slightly better view to show the quality:

It's odd, when I used my phone to take the pic, they looked blue, but the pic came out correct in grey.

They do look very 1970s grey keycaps. :-) I think they went out of fashion as soon as computers went consumer and grey was too dull. :-)

Indeed. I have to say though, that the colour works perfectly with this machine, and the person I got them from did in fact offer a version in black, but they were considerably more expensive.

They are very consistent with the likes of older devices like the TV typewriter in layout and also older terminals from that time period.
