I've tried every permutation. Always the same issue.

Is there no vaguely off the shelf solution for these cables? I'm allergic to this stuff.

I think I found a completed listing for that fdd emulator, only had Google cached image so can't see clearly, but the advert text is here:
https://yahoo.aleado.com/lot?auctionID=b311774311

Translation is not good but I think it is saying it should work but not tested with a Pro.

Also can you get 2 Goteks connected if you've only had 1. I've 1 with FlashFloppy and 1 with HxC. Because all X68000 have 2 drives it's another thing that seems quite linked, always expecting there to be two.

As your FDD Emulator has some logic (plus advert seems to say about automatic commands) and not just a dumb cable then my suggestion of needing a physical disk in the drive could cause problems.

Yeah it was a fiddle with a scalpel and trying not to nick a strand next to where you cut.
I have my original DIY cable that I could let you try?
It's short so probably only good with the case all apart, but once that darn SRAM is set you can use HD's and ditch FDD :D

In general i dont use floppy drives (not even goteks) and i only have a few short and straight floppy cables. i might have a cable with a twist but everyone says not to use them. What i'd like is just someone to sell me what i need.

Got it!

after *alot* of messing about i got the 2 Gotek setup to work. Setup completely different from @Higgy but his hints helped me solve it.

The multicolour cable, does that have 2x 3.5" plugs at the other end? And with no twists?

If so you just need my DIY cable and a 2nd Gotek off eBay, ideally one with a OLED screen.

I can see about making some longer simple DIY cables, I will check if I have any 34 pin box connectors left.

Sorting out the floppy will then see if it the SRAM. But for £10 it might be worth changing them anyway.

In all your stuff you got, you might have a floppy cable for the external port on the back? That would explain the Internal drives being 2 and 3. Then you could just connect up the Gotek externally as 0 and hopefully boot.

P.S. I noticed the floppy cable I posted was not quite correct it was labelled wrong and should have NO twist. Must have been an early one i did, which I just found on my phone to post quickly without turning on my PC! The modifications are on the Gotek cable, the X68000 cables are not cut so you can revert everything (X68000 floppy plugs are flat PCB style not 34 pins)

Thank the maker :) It's a right of passage 🙂

Hopefully saving in Switch.c and turning on/off it has saved the settings. Also check your memory is 2048 or whatever K.

Now onto SASI/SCSI. Slap this on you SCSI memory card, Google drive link here:

If mounting to back external socket there is a trick to get power to the socket to save yet another 5v power feed.
But that's got to be another day, I like you are probably X68K out! ;)

Good news that you got it working :)

This guy’s cf card image would be a good place to start once you’ve caught your breath!

Or the classic V4 image

Right we're all setup.

2Mb of RAM and able to play games from the V4 image. Happy with that.

The floppy drives arent working. What also complicated things is that you have to set 2048Mb before you put the ram in or the OS sulks. Insanity.

I want build this Pico PSU for it but i realise that i've got enclosures for 2 expert PSUs not a Pro PSU. Any suggestions here?

After this i'll put an external floppy on it at some point and pickup a 1942 and spray it black.

That is annoying and that PSU looks different from an Expert 2 one! But then the Japanese do tend to change things a lot and revise rather than churn out the same thing for 20 years.

Not quite sure how you can use the new PCB and mount it securely without making something.

I placed my PicoPSU's on a piece on plastic that I mounted inside the existing metal PSU housing, then the Power On logic breadboard was put in a small plastic bag also inside the existing housing.
I then removed one of the 'FG' earth mounting points at the back and fitted the PicoPSU barrel connector (also ditched the PSU fan as Pico generates little heat and power brick is outside).
But with the large Pro case I can see you might want it all inside the case.
However if you had the Pico's PSU outside the main case then you would not need to worry about having 240V exposed inside without a housing.
