You can also try the following podule, but no much details are given:

Better to ask CJE prior to buying...

Unfortunately that's a modem, so not suitable for what I want. There are a few ethernet modules around, but it seems none for the A5000.HigashiJun wrote: 09 Oct 2023 02:31 You can also try the following podule, but no much details are given:

Stupid me...
You're damn right !
The auction clearly states "Modem" and the connector is not an RJ45.
Next time I will post after my morning coffee.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
Well, that's annoying.
I saw on Stardot that there was software for running ZIP drives, so I dug out my Zip 100 and hooked it up. Sort of worked a bit, but ultimately no dice. So I thought to verify things I'd try it on an old Win XP laptop.
Practically the same issues, so either all my media is fubarred, or the drive is. Disappointing.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
I take it that this is the parallel port version?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
It is indeed. I may possibly pull the drive apart and see if there is anything obviously wrong, such as capacitors, but I think it may have had it's day.
It's using the original PSU and Iomega cable BTW.
EDIT - The ZIP drive has died completely now and no longer even ejects disks. I'm sure I had a 3 1/2' IDE version as well, but damned if I can find it.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
Ok, well I decided to pull the ZIP 100 apart to see if there was anything obvious wrong inside. Damn case is horrible creaky brittle plastic, but I got in and found one of the ejection springs had come adrift and was wedged up near the head solenoid.
I fished it out and reassembled it all, and lo and behold, I was able to format 5 disks under Windows (I left the 6th as it contains all the Iomega tools), something I'd previously been unable to do.
I just had to try on the A5000, and it all now works and I can format ZIP disks under RISC OS.
I like a little bit of success once in a while :)
