Asking for a friend...

Post by rubber_jonnie »

I thought I'd have a little fun and start a place where we could all safely ask to see if folks are selling stuff, but without the shame of being identified directly...

Whatever you post, it must contain "Asking for a friend" somewhere in the post, and it has to be a genuine request.

I'll kick things off.

I'm looking for an Amstrad CPC464 or CPC6128, working or not. Asking for a friend...

I don't have one for sale but your friend should consider a CPC plus model. Lots of new things coming out these days with plus support. GX4000 consoles are cheap and they are CPC plus models. And I can imagine a guy like your friend upgrading one to 128k

Know anyone in Scotland (@terriblefire?) who could collect this for you?

My friend has a physical aversion to the GX4000, something about it looking like it was based on a run over Dreamcast, though I'm sure he/she might enjoy the upgrade process.

Sadly I don't know anyone in Scotland that could pick this up for my friend.

The CPC plus seems to be something he/she could enjoy though...

Perhaps the breaking and catching fire is more to do with your friend than the chairs...

@rubber_jonnie please tell your friend I have a spare CPC464 & CPC6128 that both work fine. No idea of price yet as I have to remember how much it cost me to fix.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I have heard from a friend that they have a CPC464, so will let you know once I've heard back from that friend and have spoken to the friend I'm asking for...

My friend says thanks.

We are very friendly here.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
