Hmm.. those trace wires... I've have just fitted sockets and bodge wires between the pins. :-)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.

Is the flux meant to be brown and smoking? Asking for a friend. :lol:

What is it smoking not what is smoking...

Though if your bench is smoking then it might be a good time to get away :)

Oh! Haha. :)

Anyway I salvaged my incinerated board with only one bodge wire in the end, but had to rely on solder wicking up the pins of the sockets.

Needs a clean, but still works, so next I'll tackle the remaining chip and resistor networks.

Like I say, I'm in awe of @HigashiJun's tidyness and lack of brûlée action. :lol:

And here is the final result of the previous repair:

Final.JPG

I will just have to remove the epoxy in some vias before checking connections again and fitting back the sockets.

As I wrote before, time consuming but worth the effort.

Doesn't look too bad, certainly nowhere like Adrian Black's 'blowtorched' C64, and if it works, then what's not to like :)

Of course it can't be understated how much battery goo can change the chemistry of solder and turn it into something more like titanium, so I can understand your difficulties.
