Interesting. I'm focusing more on vocals at the minute. I do like how it's all controllable in real life.

NHS Dental charge bands

I know somebody who had a dental implant privately and it was about £2000, so that £1200 seems more like private than NHS.
Yeah, it was a private dentist as I don't have an NHS one.

Few more numbers to ring on Monday. Incidentally the one in the next town to me has a 12 month waiting list. I'll put myself on it when I get this sorted.

If I can't get anywhere closer by Monday, I'm going to Oxford on Tuesday as I can definitely register there but it has to be in person with ID. A few trips to Oxford is waaay cheaper than £1200 or having to lose a tooth I don't need to. I'll make it a day out as it has some crazy hill there.

Got tooth trouble so may disappear for a short while. Hoping it isn't too bad when the numbing wears off.
I hope your tooth is feeling better! Here's an old home remedy that may provide temporary relief: place a clove next to the tooth and leave it there. Of course you wouldn't want to fall asleep that way, lest you accidentally swallow, and I hope you find a good, affordable dentist you trust.

Beneath your Escape key, what is the purpose for the symbol that looks like a sideways "L", or a Tetris tile?
Sensitive but the temporarily patched it up thanks.

Yeah, I have no idea what that symbol is.

Good luck getting it sorted, definitely no fun having a bad tooth.

I had what I thought was a toothache recently, and the whole side of my head was in pain, but it turned out to be a blocked ear.

Code: Select all

$ myvar=`du -s .`
This runs the "disc usage" command on the current directory and the output gets assigned to the "myvar" shell variable which can then be used later.
Just discovered from amending lyrics copied off the internet and lyrics typed out by hand that the fault is Libre Office. When I type an apostrophe, it types ( ‘ ) instead of ( ' )

This is why the Atari can't read it. I assumed it was incompatibility, but it turns out it's been Libre Office the whole time, outputting a different symbol.

Typographically Libreoffice is doing the right thing. After all it is a word processor rather than a text editor.

Something such as Notepad++, or just plain notepad in text mode would probably be better for what you want to do.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I need a word processor for typing lyrics and fixing lyric sheets which I've cut and pasted from the internet.

The stuff that's been pasted in is fine in terms of the apostrophes.
It's only when I type them myself that I noticed they appear different.

The apostrophes hand typed on Libre Office look different from the apostrophes of the internet lyric pages.

I more easily confirmed this by looking at the album lyrics printed at the library and then looking at my own printed lyrics which were hand typed.
