TF1260 programming - questions & discussion

Hi,

I've created this thread to hopefully keep the other threads clear regarding programming Firmware.
We really want to keep TerribleFire concentrating on Firmware, and not on our lamer programming questions ;).
So people can discuss programming on this thread and keep the other thread to bugs, experiences and findings.

(@terriblefire I hope this is preferred and ok, please delete if it's not what you want. Just trying to clear you from reading and answering guff)

I would like to post here, as I have this week just purchased a Raspberry Pi Zero W (wireless) to flash my TF1260. I have never done this before, but I am able to learn and pick things up quickly.

I am going to use the guide published here, word for word....

- and I think I used sysfsgpio_creator instead of matrix_creator. Anyway one of them works ;)

I use a cheap Xilinx Jtag programmer purchased from China and ISE Impact, approx. $30Aud delivered if I remember correctly.
It has always worked for myself, but I believe others have had issues with these units, so it maybe safer and probably cheaper to go the PI route.

Can I please ask about connecting 3.3v from the Pi to a TF card.

If 3.3v is connected, does that remove the need for the Amiga to be switched on?

If the Amiga is switched on and TF card installed, can 3.3v from the Pi be omitted?

Is there any harm in connecting 3.3v to the TF card and have the Amiga switched on?

Yes, the 3.3V from the Pi powers the cplds. The TF1260 can still be in the Amiga but make sure the Amiga is turned off.

you do not need to connect the TF to the A1200 you can program it outside the machine, just use the 3.3v on the pi to connect to the 3.3v on the JTAG on the TF

Ok, and conversely, if the TF is in the Amiga, and the Amiga is powered on, the 3.3v line can be left out and not connected?

Damn message got lost.
Quick version - RPi sdcard got damaged with RPi alone.
Left TF1260 in Amiga. Powered Amiga on without CF installed. Did not use RPi 3.3v connection.
All good
