I've seen IDE cables with blocked pins before but not floppy cables. One to watch out for, might just make some new cables since I have all the parts to hand.

Having got everything up and running again I've spent some quality time with the Enterprise and I'm very impressed with it's capabilities.

I've seen emulation, games ported over from the Spectrum and some originals that show off the machine very well.

I've now been in touch with somebody over at the Enterprise Forever forum and I'm thinking about some of the hardware on offer over here: Enterprise Hardware

It's all looking vey good, I just want to try and get it outputting to HDMI now as it's the easiest option for me and I have lots of RGB2HDMI boards hanging around.

@rubber_jonnie what sort of hardware are you looking at getting then?

I need to get a small TV or something similar if I'm going to continue using RGB2HDMI with my projects. Only one of my monitors has audio out but the sound is pretty crappy.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I personally think that the Enterprise was the real 'Spectrum Next', but they didn't really pick up on it back in the day.

Glad to see it getting some long term love. I've got a couple of these myself, even had one when it first came out, but too many adult things, too little time as always.

Well I'm looking at the SD Card solution and maybe the video cables. There are 3 cable types, composite, SCART and VGA and composite.

However if I can sort out some edge connectors then I should be able to build my own cables without too may problems and I'd like to get one of my RGB2 HDMI's set up.

Now I already have composite out via my mod, but the image quality is iffy (I may recap the machine given it's history) and that is ok for now, but I want better.

I have a couple of Technika LCD TVs. They are 18" & 21" and very cheap but loads of inputs and reasonable quality. Sure, they aren't a CRT but they are good enough for my needs. I'm also finding some 16" displays on Amazon for around the £60 mark and they are quite decent, thouh some don't have sound so you need to be careful about what you buy.

This is the latest one I bought: Amazon HDMI display with audio

Also, the internal joystick is surprisingly good all things considered.

I will still be building the Joystick adapters that @stephen_usher kindly donated though :)

Managed to file down this edge connector over lunchtime so I can hopefully do some video cable experimentation soon as I get time:

Also now have a nice red joystick topper:
