Ordered the prototype metal parts from JLC. Stupid with postage and tax on top as always.
Was looking for a UK place which gave online quotations for metal printing. Tried about 20 sites, all want me to create a account to get a quote.. no thanks ! Sick to death of signing up for a quote as much as I am sick of clocking cloudflare boxes every site I go on ! If sites can't make thing quick and simple, then I just won't use them. I really don't have the time or patience anymore for it. So JLC it is.
Can all registered uses please login, even just for a few minutes..
It helps build a picture where our "good traffic" is coming from..
Thanks :)

Should exxos design a new CT60 PSU?
Re: Should exxos design a new CT60 PSU?
Review Note:
Multiple parts are detected in your file, sorry to tell you that each file could only support 1 part for printing, please kindly split the multiple parts into single files to upload separately. Thanks !

Re: Should exxos design a new CT60 PSU?
This is all why I am tired of building stuff. It's not the designing and doing stuff which is the problem, its always "other stuff" relating to "other people" which makes everything like buying a few simple parts a several week long load of drama
I had to pre-order a whole reel of inductors from coilcraft last time for the PSU builds as nobody had them in stock anyway
Cost me £150 just to order a couple of meanwell power bricks as nobody had them in stock either.. Every step of the way is just drama !
Re: Should exxos design a new CT60 PSU?
This is slightly annoying as well.. 20 pins, then 24 pins, different orientations !
Re: Should exxos design a new CT60 PSU?
Designed a fan speed controller, it is pretty crude but it will let you switch between 5 volts or 12 volts or PWM mode.
There is one output left, which I put as an auxiliary output which could be used to switch something like the the TRUDIE widget for the power light, but I'm not going to go into designing how to fit all that togethe, that can be someone else's problem
The ATX connector will have more cables as we. In theory the 3.3v rail can switch 24amps.. Though cooling could be a issue at that
Though im moving to a 4 layer PCB to try and get the heat away from under the regulator better.
I cannot find a ATX female to female connector cable
so likely I will have to get some custom made which is a pain.
The IDE to CF adapters should be here tomorrow in theory, but won't have any time until Monday to continue the work, but as soon as I figure out the mounting mechanism for that, the PCB work what is left should happen reasonably quickly.

My first task in my current job as an ASIC engineer in Oxford was designing the PWM fan controller. The same code was used as the PWM LED controller that allowed for strobe effects. Knight rider like effects in HW on external HDDs circa 2005

Cool. I built some knight rider lights in the early 90s. Good old basic TTL stuff. Wonder if i still got it somewhere. Hmm..alexh wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2026 10:00 pm My first task in my current job as an ASIC engineer in Oxford was designing the PWM fan controller.
