Well it shouldn't have done that unless you accidentally told it to install grub on your windows drive. It asks you where to put the bootloader in the installation.

Possible I guess. Though wouldn't my windows drive still try to boot in grub if that was the case ?

Just tried booting off my win7 drive directly and it booted :WTF: in msconfig yesterday it was showing no bootloader, now it is :WTF:

I have used winstep extreme for years. It give me a popup menu above the taskbar and pops up m
y programs kinda like the start menu with icons..

I'm not at home to capture my menus. But I divided apps into menu sections. Like common apps, electronics apps, common files / folders I use etc.

I like it as I can get to apps quickly with minimal clicks and messing about.

Currently the menu systems in Linux seem to be searching the start menu by text. Not good when you have RSI.

I don't know if stuff like this is built into the kde desktop ?. Not had chance to look into it yet.

So AFAICT setting my MAC address and IP in MX seems to have been as simple has it *should* have been in MINT.

Got Gaszuzzlers running.. However I can't get sound to work currently. I get sound on youtube.. So puzzled to what's going on. Also my media keys don't seem to be assigned correctly. Volume up mutes/unmutes the audio :shrug: I also think there is something odd going on with audio. Like in MX, its like its been hit with massive amounts of negative feedback, so all the sounds are sounding "artificial" now. Like all the music has lost its soul and all the fina details. It sounded really good in MINT. So something odd going on there as well.

EDIT:

Oddly after I rebooted the sound is sounding more how it should. Bizarre. Now to work out the shortcuts problems.

Also sometimes some screens go semi transparent, but cant work out whats causing that. Also Dolphine seems to remove its shortcut from the taskbar after its been clicking :WTF:

Sounds like you've got something like a stuck key on the keyboard or something.... Especially if you keep getting weird transparent windows, sounds like something that should happen when 'task switching', very odd, especially since it's happening across multiple distros and desktop environments!

In regards to sound, have you installed MX Codecs? And for dock panels, there's a recommended one in the following guide (xfce though) https://averagelinuxuser.com/after-installing-mxlinux/

With KDE you should have almost limitless flexibility when it comes to panels and docks. It's all extremely configurable as far as I know.

Seems to be the application toolbar doing it :shrug: But no options to turn it off :(

Also the desktop is now vanishing and acting like a funky disco :shrug: Will upload a video when I get back in Windows. Can't get my cam to connect in MX yet :(

This is the transparency problem in MX.

This is the bat-shit-crazy thing in MX. Oddly the flickering changes faster when I move the mouse. If I open and close windows it tends to settle down for a bit.

I'm at a loss with my camera. The cam connects to the router via WiFi. Linux connects to the router via wired lan. Linux connects to the internet fine. But the cam can't connect to Linux and no idea why ?

I can't even find anyone else having similar issues. It's like either cams not connecting via usb. Or Linux not connecting to WiFi.
