What a wonderful piece of kit

I only remember servicing the actual tape player mechanisms and I think they were called "TOA" tape players. Though I never, to my recollection, saw the complete unit. I guess there was little point removing the entire unit when they could just take out the mechanism and send it to us for repair.

I serviced those on work experience back in ~1994. Though I think they "went out of fashion" not long after. While there was jukeboxes and stuff for the public to choose songs, I think mostly they moved to Denon multi-CD players. One which I think held 5 CDs on a huge spinning tray.. My God those things were built like total garbage! I used to like Denon equipment until I started servicing their stuff!!

You know you want to :)

In the meantime, here's some Speccy stuff for you to help move you along.

First off the Datacorder mechanism has been cleaned and lubricated, heads cleaned and a new belt installed:

And it now fast forwards & rewinds perfectly, and playback seems to be much smoother and quieter.

Then the SCART cable for the +2 arrived and the picture quality is excellent, but then it is from CoolNovelties and they make great cables.

This is via my OSSC, nice and sharp compared to the modulator :)

Last, but by no means least is the spares board that also arrived this morning:

It needs some attention, which I already knew it would, but may get kelp me get the + up and running again

Some good news at least.

Have you ever thought about running a museum, @rubber_jonnie ? You really have a lot of nice stuff.

He's got no-where near enough for a museum. :-)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Hmm, perhaps you underestimate my collection ;)

Sadly I don't have the time to run even a small museum, stupid work...

Agreed, work pays for all this lovely stuff, and maybe a museum on retirement :)
