I don’t think the ram is faulty either as sometimes it passed the test and others it didn’t.

That’s a good upgrade if you do feel the need to change the ram though.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

At that price I would have ordered it today, but they are out of stock :(

It's sitting running Dead Test (I know that's for C64), but it's done 25 iterations without finding a RAM issue, so right now I don't know what Diag I can trust.

Also, Dead Test won't go beyond flashing the screen if the RAM is bad, and I get to the proper diag screen, which is another indicator that RAM, at least for the C64 side, is good.

My money is on the PLA, but the MMU is easily swapped as in a socket so I'll try that first when the parts arrive.

You did say you'd used the C128 Test earlier right?

I did, and it fails on the PLA and RAM.

Out of curiosity, and since it is socketed, I pulled the MMU, cleaned the legs and Electrolubed the socket, but I still get the same faults.

However the diags seem to be running more reliably since doing this. Whereas before they were hanging after the first iteration, they are now running repeatedly.

They still say the PLA is bad though!

That sounds like a good improvement. If I get a chance I'll run the drags through a good C128 motherboard I have and will let you know if that shows its failed as well.

Sounds good to me, thanks.

Boo! PLA and MMU won't be here until Monday.

I suppose I could get ahead of myself and desolder the PLA and socket it, providing of course I have the right size socket!!

Use two 24 pin sockets back to back, it’s cheaper than getting 48 pin ones.

It wouldn't be the first time I've done that..
