Just a thought, would it be feasible to feed the signal from a function generator in place of the crystal, just to see if a stable signal makes the problem go away?

Unfortunately I don't have a signal generator.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

My goodness that was quick. The Mouser package has already reached Stanstead Airport from Texus and I only ordered it about 24 hours ago.

Now that I've adjusted the guns on my Ferguson TX telly it's showing the same degree of banding as on the LCD, just a bit more fuzzily.

The next thing will be getting a replacement for the modulator as that's the only other place that noise can be introduced.
