Thanks for the results.

If you have not been following the thread fully, I have not yet worked out why the TTram test is faster on PAK and TOS306. It is difficult to do any tests without programming a ROM every time. Hatari needs a patch and I don't know how to do that either.

Just trying using an old Hatari (2.1.0) on my Mac, which switches to TT mode when TOS is names 3.09, which is fine.

ST RAM test is quick now but TT RAM test is slow.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I wonder if a older version on Windows would work for me.. Have a look later

Thanks, not sure why STram be quicker and not TTram... will have another look.

1.9.0 Won't let me even select a TTram Value.

2.0.0 Just says bad ROM chip in E.

2.1.0 has the same problem Whereas if I force it to 306 in the header, it totally skips the RAM tests.

@stephen_usher did you try normal TOS306 in Hatari as well ? Just want to make sure its not a cache thing going on... I am assuming TOS306 is also faster than ST536 TOS ?

Well it's back to 4 minutes on Hatari, but bear in mind that has no concept of the RAM being faster, or the CPU going up to 50MHz.

Cache is still disabled, however. I still think that would be the biggest contributor to a faster test on real hardware.

How long does proper TOS306 take ?

TOS3.06 on an 8MHz TT (tried running it in ST mode -- no go) takes of the order 45 seconds.

CACR register during the test is 00003111 for TOS3. It's 00000000 for your TOS.

If Hatari doesn't give any speedups for cache then its not going to be the problem for the slow down regardless of what its set at.

There must be something else different between 206 and 306 relating to the TTram tests but Ive so far not been able to work out what.
