Well, it's saved me typing 3 pages of text.

It also means I can print any text now. 8-)

So much easier to mess with the geography. I did however forget that you need a loop to loop something lol

I'm curious about the difference between US and UK keyboards...
Were you typing the ['] next to the Enter key ?

American keyboards make an apostrophe that is vertical ['], located next to "Enter," which I often use for quotes out of sheer laziness, since using shift+["] requires more effort. This thing : [`], a bit like a French accent-grave, we call a single-quote, and it resides on the upper-left. Perhaps your apostrophe adventures have you copying and pasting internationally between both layouts?
Fido explains ['] here :dizzy: :

Yeah, noticed that the apostrophe looks different on my US Atari:

And there's a similar looking symbol that points the other way below the tilde.
This one is also present on my PC keyboard all though I never use it:

Probably lots of stuff around that I don't know about/understand.

P.s. Got tooth trouble so may disappear for a short while. Hoping it isn't too bad when the numbing wears off.

Back-quote is used quite a lot in UNIX/Linux shell. The stuff typed between the back-quotes (or "back-ticks") is run as a separate command and the output from it replaces the quoted text. e.g.

Code: Select all

$ myvar=`du -s .`
This runs the "disc usage" command on the current directory and the output gets assigned to the "myvar" shell variable which can then be used later.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

NHS Dentist.

Post by Cosmic Puppet »

Any of you guys have dentists that you can vouch for that take on NHS patients. Been told it will be £1200 to fix my tooth, so would be prepared to travel far if necessary, I mean...I travelled 200 miles to pick up a black and white TV. :lol:
I'll be ringing more places tomorrow.

Cheers.

Can you actually travel to other NHS dentists out of your area ?

My girlfriend's dentist is terrible but It always seems that she is adamant that you have to go to the closest one in your area :shrug: I know she had a problem to find a new dentist when her old one shutdown because a lot around here are not even taking on new patients.
