@exxos :lolbig: Ok I will hold off until you've had a chance to repair what's died and test out your theory :)exxos wrote: 12 Mar 2020 11:23I find it best normally not to email him about problems  :roll:rubber_jonnie wrote: 12 Mar 2020 11:16 @exxos I may drop UWE a note later then, see what he says. Are you able to test with ACSI? I'd need to do a bit of setup first as my CosmosEx is currently using PPs driver.
I have an idea what it might be, but something has decided to die meanwhile

@exxos Yeah, dodgy CF adapters seem to be a thing now, I have 2 that don't work at all with the IDE interface, the other gives the slow result. Not sure if I got the same result with a real HDD, I can't recall.

It seems to be the CF itself where it plugs into the adapter that seems to be dodgy. I will give it a blast with contact cleaner later.rubber_jonnie wrote: 12 Mar 2020 11:37 @exxos Yeah, dodgy CF adapters seem to be a thing now, I have 2 that don't work at all with the IDE interface, the other gives the slow result. Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
@exxos The problem I have with my 2 CF2IDE adapters, and I have an IDE2SD adapter that does the same, is that they don't power up when connected to the IDE interface. They have power, and I have tried a separate IDE to 44 pin adapter too, and just no power. But they work with a USB to IDE adapter on my PC. No idea why.exxos wrote: 12 Mar 2020 11:42

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
I have been doing a little bit of fiddling with the LED... I was thinking with the speed that this is switching at it probably does not even need the resistor on it...
This one is pulsing 50ns high/low 3 times and if this brightness on the left-hand LED... The off-time is somewhere around 750ns.. I think it is slightly brighter than the right-hand LED..
In this test I was just pulsing 50ns high once... And it is noticeably dimmer than before...
I was using XFERRATE to make the LED stay on continuously during these tests.
EDIT:
I ran the same test with the on-board LED which goes via the 1K resistor, and that one is barely visible now, so I think the pulsing seems okay.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
I ordered (I think 25) PLDs yesterday which have just arrived..
I'm going to see if I can program these today and test them out. Then hopefully I can get the PCB & PLD bagged up ready for stock.
As some people have no doubt noticed, I started doing a install page here... https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =81&t=2581 I have yet to include modifications as my board has been hacked about rather a lot currently in preparation for a future run of boards. So need to actually documented properly which modifications are actually needed for the R1C boards.
