You should be able to do that with the V1.1 board yes... V1 no.PaulJ wrote: 06 Mar 2020 18:04 @exxos , can I use the IDE board but insert it with no processor and use the on board H4 processor? I suspect not but thought I'd ask.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Good, my goal here is to have a machine that can run the uip tool and have the eprom emulator working. I need the IDE boards $e00000/$0000 decode for the eprom emulator and the H4-1 works with the netusbee. So I will run the IDE board without eprom but using its decode signal to drive the eprom emulator that I will plug into the IDE processor socket on an adaptor. Everything should then work. By the way the only thing that successfully runs the eprom emulator is the IDE eprom decode. :) :) :)

Didn't work, must process some of the cpu lines or something one the IDE board. Just a white screen. I'll wait for the H4 $e00000/$0000 decode board. :coffee:

Id be surprised if you did get it to work as nobody has the V1.1 yet other than Icky and we not even tested the firmware yet...PaulJ wrote: 06 Mar 2020 22:26 Didn't work, must process some of the cpu lines or something one the IDE board. Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
I had a reply back from Atmel finally about the A8 issue compiling....Better late than never I guess as I already solved it a few days back but the least this explains it all better..
Or basically in short, "doesn't fit" :)
According to the Fitter Report (V5_1504A.fit) file for your design, the Fitter failed to fit this design mainly because it wasn’t able to route A8, A20 and IDE_IORDY to some of the Logic Array Blocks (LAB) as shown below.
For the ATF1504, there are forty 9:1 multiplexers for each LAB to connect all the input and feedback (total of 132) signals to the macrocells as shown below. Furthermore, each input signal is connected to 2 muxes while each feedback signal is connected to 3 muxes. So for your design, it’s likely that the muxes for the A8, A20 and IDE_IORDY input pins need to be used for other input or feedback signals, and this is why it failed to fit. To fit your design into the ATF1504, you can try removing the pin assignments for A8, A20 and IDE_IORDY from your CUPL design file and then see if it will fit or not without enabling any of the Optimization options.
Or basically in short, "doesn't fit" :)

Surely the software should just bring up a big, friendly dialog saying?...
Ooops! Won't fit.

Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Needs an MS Office paperclip type thing that pops up and says "Hey, your design looks a bit big, can you make it smaller?"

You're lucky if you even get a message saying "compilation failed", a lot of the time it compiles successfully when there is loads of stuff missing / wrong..I don't expect miracles from it anyway, it is not far off notepad with a compiler in the first place  Is not like the other bloatware packages I have used throw up useful error messages either.
