rubber_jonnie wrote: 18 Feb 2025 21:55 BTW I downloaded the latest version, 1.56 and it doesn't crash with AcornSSL installed from the ROOL hard disk image. I class that as progress, however looking at the manual it seems there should be options to pick from the FTPc menu, but security for example has nothing in the list and according to the manual it should have several options to pick from.

So I need to have a closer look as to why that is, perhaps delete the existing config files and start again.
Yes, I have these options available in my settings.
So definitely something is off there then. Can't look at it today though as I'm in the office.

Aside from AcornSSL did you install anything else before it worked?

Thanks.

No, I have just the !Boot stuff installed and the NIC.

The only thing I had to do was to change some parameters and configure all the internet related options.

Same as for me. Very strange.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with the Toolkit directory missing something?

I cleared the config files for FTPc and I get exactly the same, no options in the menu's. Weird

@HigashiJun

Would you be able to show me the contents of your Toolbox folder please?

I have still got the issue, nothing in the menus and it just doesn't work, I think I am missing a library.

Do you have, according to the !FTPc site "Toolbox and 32bit SharedCLibrary modules - available as a !System update from Castle."

The site is not up and not in the internet archive AFAIK

Here is the contents of the Toolbox folder I have:

1.JPG

and just in case, the Internet settings, where I had to rename the EtherDevice as a wrong one was selected.

2.JPG

BTW, which !Uniboot version do you have ?

I have the one from Paul's website:

https://www.retro-kit.co.uk/UniBoot.html

and as you can see, there is an interesting statement:
The configuration process took a few weeks and a lot of trawling of the Internet in order to find the latest versions of modules that would still work on an Archimedes with 26-bit compatibility and would allow me to run software such as !Browse or !ArcWeb and !FTPc. There is also at least one bug in the original UniBoot sequence than can cause the sequence to fail under certain circumstances so I also had to fix some scripts to solve the problem.
Maybe a clue concerning your !FTPc issue ?

Oh, and I don't have any Toolbox and 32bit SharedCLibrary modules installed.

@HigashiJun

So my Toolbox folder looks like yours:

IMG20250221084934 1.jpg

And this is my !internet startup file:

IMG20250221084914.jpg

Which doesn't seem terribly different to yours. The only real difference is that the local domain on mine is local and yours is home.

I got !UniBoot from here: Riscos.com which seems to be the starting point for Paul. I will however download his !UniBoot 2 archive and have a root round in there, see if there is anything I can merge into mine.

I can relate to his statement about trawling round for weeks!! I've hit many dead ends with sites no longer there or information that is no longer relevant. I'll see if I can get the other archives he mentions too.

Thanks for getting this stiff for me, very much appreciated.

@rubber_jonnie

I tried all the existing !Uniboot archives and I had issues with them.

The best version is (at least for my configuration) Paul's one.

No unnecessary stuff and very reliable.

Fingers crossed for your !FTPc.

It seems there is a lot of difference with Pauls !Boot so I matched my modules to what was in his modules folder, but it made no difference.

What I'm worried about is swapping mine for his and breaking my internet setup. I could do it by means of a test, and I suppose if all I need to do is add my !Boot file for desktop customisation and then reconfigure !Internet then it would be worth the effort.

I'll try and let you know.

Ok, thanks.

I'm curious what the result will be.
