If you're used to one, the other will seem complicated. ;)

Yep, will have to order one.Steve wrote: 16 Apr 2024 20:10 Just goto amazon and pick up a Sandisk 32gb card next day delivery for £10..... no stress then. You do realise you could use a bigger card also? Like a 64gb? It would work too.
That was done with rufus. You should use a dedicated app designed for writing disk images, like rufus or win32diskimager or balena etcher.

Windows is only ever going to see one partition, isn't it? Only boot is FAT32.Steve wrote: 16 Apr 2024 20:10 ps - it has only written 1 partition. not the entire image to disk. You should use a dedicated app designed for writing disk images, like rufus or win32diskimager or balena etcher.

True. I've not checked in Linux.Badwolf wrote: 16 Apr 2024 21:47 Windows is only ever going to see one partition, isn't it? Only boot is FAT32.
I've not tried it as I wouldn't know unless it connects to WiFi.. but that card has @Steve settings which wont work on my network... That's another problem..Does that SD card boot on the Pi, @exxos?
Because @Steves 32GB card is 640MB larger than my 32GB card and it won't save the image.Making these Pi images is really straightforward normally. Why didn't the Pi Imaging software work?

That looks ok.
Code: Select all
sudo mount /dev/sdg2 /mntAh, you haven't got the micro HDMI cable yet?exxos wrote: 16 Apr 2024 21:58I've not tried it as I wouldn't know unless it connects to WiFi.. but that card has @Steve settings which wont work on my network... That's another problem..Does that SD card boot on the Pi, @exxos?
I meant the normal install. I didn't understand why you abandoned that approach. Does that let you preconfigure all of this then you just log in and copy what you want from Steve's image?Because @Steves 32GB card is 640MB larger than my 32GB card and it won't save the image.Making these Pi images is really straightforward normally. Why didn't the Pi Imaging software work?

Because @Steve said there was loads to configure and he hasn't tried the latest firmware yet. His setup works on the H5. So he wanted me to have a more "plug and play" experience. Nobody AFAIK has tested the latest firmwares , so it could be broke for all we know on the H5 now.Badwolf wrote: 17 Apr 2024 10:08 I meant the normal install. Ah, yeah. Getting a PiStorm going will involve a lot of typing, I'm afraid. :(exxos wrote: 17 Apr 2024 10:18 My HDMI cable has come, but I'm not at home today and need to keep off the pc for a few days now anyway. All this Linux stuff isn't RSI friendly.. I can't type more than a couple of sentences each day before I am in a lot of pain :(
