chucky wrote: 12 Aug 2021 08:50 no. the 0603 points are WAY bigger than the spacing of the CPLD pins..

I am moving FROM 0805 to 0603 on my future projects. as 1. 0805 are big. 2. 0603 are cheaper! and with 0603 you can get smaller designs.

(yes whatever next ReAmiga project willl be. it will use 0603s)

and as you can get the boards preassmebled (this is how we got the 1260s and test1230s) you can do a 1230 in like 20 minutes or so.
(ok apparenlty from JLC only in green)

so it is pointless to go to sharpie-tolerances of the pcb and go to 0805. why not throughhole when making not needed hacks..

if to change the pcb. add fpu etc. that would make sense. sorry it is a pointless change put energy on something else.
Completely agree. And the stability arguments are completely daft. The TF1260 is much more dense and it doesnt have stability issues (and it goes 2-3 times faster)... All of this is invented problems without data or measurements. Possibly i could take 10mm off the board .... what price difference? 20 pence maybe? Assembly is free already and 0603 is cheaper than 0805.

So its just a "look at me exercise" .. Or like the guy who replaces parts on his car with race spec and thinks it goes faster/better.

EDIT: its actually audiophile type changes really... no need but gives placebo effect to the person that does it.

IDE will eventually work like TF1260 but right now its not got firmware.

Also there is no burst mode right now either
