I've just ordered all missing parts, including a handful of sockets. I will have to wait for the sockets to arrive before I can do most of the fixes.

Got the parts in. Farnell sent me two different 68 pin sockets though. The brown one looks much more sturdy. Do you guys recognize any of these specific models?

As I read in the STE booster thread, the pin shape has a lot of influence on the connection quality. The pins of both sockets are shaped quite differently. I'm wondering if I can use both. I've got three black ones and (sadly) only one brown socket.

I think the sockets are not much of a problem for older PLCC (like GLUE MMU etc) ...

The main problem is with the CPU PLCC that it does not seem to fit any sockets properly.. So far the 3M socket seems ok for the CPU, but I have not done testing with it yet.. I cannot remember if I documented the socket yet or not...

Alright, I I'll use the brown one (which I guess is from 3M) for the CPU and the black ones for the other chips.

Ah, so I got it the other way around. Funny, the brown one seems to be of much higher quality.
