I see it's fixed now, nice.
On the mobile there is no small logo at the top as before. If I remember we did a little hack to get it to work.

Re: Server updates
No clue, I don't use mobile or dark theme, so no idea how it was before :PIcky wrote: 15 Jun 2026 23:02 On the mobile there is no small logo at the top as before. If I remember we did a little hack to get it to work.
By default the banner is hidden on mobiles as its to big to fit on screen anyway.

Re: Server updates
I think I sorted it last time. I can’t be bothered at the moment as too tired. I may look at some point.
As you can tell from my screenshot my phone is saying it’s bed time :-)

Re: Server updates

Re: Server updates
Forum Update: phpBB 3.3.17, New Dark Theme & a Cleaner Theme Setup
I've spent some time giving the forum's software and theme a proper overhaul. Here's what changed and why.
1. Upgraded to phpBB 3.3.17
The board is now running the latest phpBB, 3.3.17. As well as being the current version, this release fixes a security issue in older versions that could be used to compromise accounts, so the upgrade was worth doing on its own. Everything was tested on a full clone of the forum first before anything was changed here.
2. A new Dark theme (and you can still choose Light)
There's now a proper dark theme available alongside the normal light one. You can switch between them in your settings:
3. Why the theme was rebuilt behind the scenes
This part is invisible to you but matters for the long term. The old theme was a modified copy of the default phpBB style. The trouble with that is every time phpBB releases an update, it overwrites those files and the customisations break — meaning the whole theme had to be hand-repaired after every update. That's hours of fiddly work each time, and it's why the previous dark style eventually got abandoned.
I've now done it the proper way:
4. Editor toolbar in dark mode
If you use the dark theme, the post editor's formatting toolbar has been styled to match (it was glaringly white before). The light theme is unaffected.
Anything looks off?
It's all been tested, but if you spot anything that looks broken or out of place — especially on mobile or in the dark theme — please reply here and let me know which page and which theme you were using, and I'll sort it.

That's hours of fiddly work each time, and it's why the previous dark style eventually got abandoned.
I've now done it the proper way:
- The default style is left completely untouched, so it updates cleanly with phpBB.
- All the forum's customisations — the logo banner, the search box position, and so on — now live in a small separate add-on that sits on top.
- The dark theme is one that updates itself with phpBB rather than needing manual patching.

Re: Server updates
There was a "bug" in the firewall which might have banned some people using the now enabled HTTP3 connection. The rule is fixed, but I have no way of knowing if any other users got mistakenly banned using HTTP3. I am currently doing log scans and will unban IPs with HTTP3 just in case..

Re: Server updates
We went down again  I know why this happened, but fixing it is getting more and more complicated as time goes on. We got hit with a massive botnet again which skips all the existing decisions
The fixes I am doing now, might break some pages from loading.. but will fix them as I find out as I go along..
:sigh:
EDIT:
Changes now made. Let me know if anything looks broken or doesn't load now.

Re: Server updates
I had to update the recent topics extension, but now I see it has a bug, so reported it.
