I agree that duplication of effort is unnecessary.

Anyone know what happend to ftp://ftp.stmags.com/ The Atari ST magazine preservation project ?

Cannot say I knew of that server , but it seems to have been off-line for a while what I can tell. No idea what content was on there. Most of the links on the wiki go to Atari Mania anyway.

I've merged the magazine scans and the magazine section because with all the broken links and they were mixed up anyway. But I don't see much difference between magazines with and without scans. It's not like without scans is a magazine that exists anyway. Any other magazines are disk magazines which are in their own section anyway. The section is a little long as it is and we now have a small blank section as well...

Any Magazines in particular? I've been collecting PDFs of every Atari & Amiga (& Multiformat) magazine in every language over the last few years.

The best single source of Atari Magazines (today) is archive.org

The biggest new Atari Magazine resource is

Nothing in particular. It is wondering what the FTP site was all about..

I re-linked most of them on the wiki homepage and updated the list. Though I have added a small section for magazine archive sites. Though technically these links are repeated in the magazine list anyway..

Been fixing links all day. Some sites have completely vanished when they are not even on way back machine. So I've just been putting (DEAD LINK) on the pages so someone else can figure that lot out.

There's been a lot of object moved pages because of http not https. I wrote a script to change a lot of them directly in the database to speed things up. However some sites ironically do not even support https yet. So I cannot just simply rename the lot

I've also found that I have to restart Apache because otherwise it does not seem to register the updates on the wiki otherwise

I have fixed some of the categories because stuff was mixed in the peripheral section as mentioned before. I figure that out and cleaned up some pages and relinked them better. Nothing too drastic though.

I have also fixed some missing images and a couple of other problem pages and various other thousands of bits and bobs all day.

The biggest problem is still essentials pages...

https://web.archive.org/web/20130213212 ... iles2.html

I change them on the wiki home to the way back machine but it is ultimately pointless because the actual files / zips seem to be all missing :(

The only mirror I have found so far is also broken.

EDIT:
Hmmm..

So I decided to nuke the cd menu section. As said before, aside from outdated content, a lot didn't have download links. The ones that did went to separate pages making link updates a nightmare. The fact nobody finishes the pages since 2006. Long term maintenance of the lists. In the end, while I had spent 3 full days on scripts to get current data from AL, if AL layout changes it would break those scripts. Plus it's long term maintenance again. In the end, while I dislike removing content, with the above considered, I see it as many many unpaid work hours. I do enough of that already and don't want any more. Plus only 1 person had a opinion on it anyway.

So now the cd menus link on the wiki homepage goes to the menu list on AL via a single links page. I've linked my site as well as ve hosted menus for like 20 years. If anyone know of any other sites with cd menus then it can be added to the list also.

That would be incredibly useful yes. I have noticed there is a lot of French articles on there dotted about. I guess we could keep the French one and just have it at the bottom of the page I guess.. Or just zip the french one up so google translate doesn't get confused

Well the collaborative part is the point of a wiki ;) I'd say if it's working just release it and let people fill in with content. No need to polish forever yourself.
