Thanks.. It looks like the yellow line is the booster pin 1 ?

The signal doesn't look as good as it should be. I suggest you put a 68R in series with the wire going to pin 39 of the shifter... try again... if still problems, add another 68 and try again...

Also have you tried a different floppy drive ?

What happens if you press RESET button after it bombs, does it still bomb exactly the same ?

Tried it with same result: (I used 2x27R + 2x40R)

Not yet, because I only have another floppy drive from an Amiga 1200 around! I'm not sure if they are compatible?!

The same -> 4 bombs (but without memory test)

Very strange...

I don't see how TOS104 works at 16MHz but not TOS206. Its like TOS206 ROM is corrupted, but you said it works at 8MHz ?

Can you boot TOS104 and run GB6 for a couple hours and see if TOS104 is stable at 16MHz..

No, TOS206 never worked (not with 16MHz and also not with 8MHz -> same behaviour)

Ah ok, that makes a lot more sense then.. I thought you had it running with TOS206 at 8MHz...

Its probably not worth it I think now... 16MHz is working with TOS104, so either some problem with the floppy drive or the ROM is bad.

The problem is with the ROM being bad, is they are all verified, so it would seem unlikely. With the floppy drive working with TOS104, it would seem unlikely to be that either.

Which ROM was it you installed, this one ? https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/store2/#0049 (0049) I will burn a new ROM here and see if I have the same issue here... Then at least I know the ROM file I used is good or not...

This machine arrived today so I had a look at it..

I used my own PSU & floppy drive testing as they are known working.

I confirm when TOS206 is booted, it crashes just after memory test.

I heard the floppy drive clunk three times which immediately made me think this is not correct and it has some DMA issue. So I proceeded to put the 10K pull up fix on the databus and now the floppy drive clunks once which is normal operation and now the crash has gone.

Obviously TOS206 things the floppy drive is not connected and as it normally does, gives bombs. However the floppy drive is obviously connected, but the data coming back is corrupted making TOS206 the drive is not connected.

As to why this issue only shows up with TOS206 is a mystery. But I am currently seeing such oddities with my current booster research anyway.

I really think everyone should do this modification to their machine and I am classing it as mandatory now.

I even did a video :)

Maybe we should have the new counter which says "This forum has gone zero days without a DMA issue"
