If nothing else gets in the way, I'll probably start the upgrade next Tuesday. The updates will likely take all day.
There was a fair few minor issues but they all been documented with AI. Now I have a script which I should be able to run after the server upgrade to fix all known problems. Of course, I can't test 100% on the copy server but I can't find any issues which leap out anyway.
What's partly annoying is I'm running later versions of stuff than the later Ubuntu releases. So I'll have to fix all that myself again as well.
The forum will be disabled but everything will be in a broken state during the updates anyway. Cloudflare doesn't help matters as they blocking the server ip from github

Re: Server updates
In total there are 23003 users online - this keeps going up today.
We are being hit pretty hard from Bangladesh mostly. All coming from residential IP addresses, so likely infected devices creating huge botnets.
Basically 200,000 IPs blocked the past hour.
It's a bit of a waiting game really. It comes down to how many IP addresses they can come up with versus how fast they can be banned versus the server resources.. Hopefully they run out of IP addresses before the server runs out of resources  :hide:

uh-oh .. she can't take much more captain... :fire: :hide: :fire: The hits are increasing drastically per hour !
Turkey — Largest single wave of the day, 6 full /16s blocked in one hit at 20:15. Türk Telekom and Vodafone residential ranges, 200+ confirmed offenders each. New to the attack today.
Bangladesh — Most persistent all day, 22 different ISPs contributing /24 blocks across nearly every hourly run. Clearly the core of the residential botnet pool.
Ukraine — 17 different ISPs appearing steadily throughout the day. Second most persistent country after Bangladesh.
Pakistan — 8 ISPs involved including a full /16 from Cyber Internet. Active from mid-morning onward.
China — China Unicom appearing every single run all day with 50-116 offenders, plus Baidu range. Relentless and consistent.
US proxies — DigitalOcean, Bunny Communications, Ace Data Centers and Liasail Global providing commercial proxy infrastructure used by the operators throughout the day.
Africa — Single large /16 block, operator unknown, appeared mid-afternoon.
Tunisia — Orange Tunisie full /16 blocked mid-afternoon.
Kazakhstan & Kyrgyzstan — Multiple residential ISPs appearing steadily through the day.
Uzbekistan & Azerbaijan — Smaller but consistent contribution across multiple ISPs.
Malaysia — TM Technology and Celcom appearing in later runs.
India — Two ISPs appearing in afternoon runs.
Lebanon, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan — Middle Eastern residential ISPs appearing in later runs.
Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Paraguay — Latin American ISPs appearing in the evening wave.
Russia, Belarus — Small contribution, one ISP each.
Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore — Southeast Asian residential ISPs in later runs.
Somalia, Albania, Spain — Single ISPs each, appearing in the final runs of the evening.

Re: Server updates
Server itself has been updated ahead of schedule. We are now running all the latest OS level versions.
Next I need to update phpbb3 because of a a critical security flaw (its currently patched in a not nice way to avoid the issue) and need to update the wiki software.
Because phpbb3 is a PITA to keep updated with the theme changes each time, AI is writing a extension for me, so rather than me spending a week trying to work out what the hell I changed and why every forum update, it should be 1000x easier with a proper extension to take care of it all for me.
So its possible the forum will be glitching at some point tomorrow (tuesday) . Please make sure you have the default prosilver theme selected.

Re: Server updates
phpbb now fully updated.
Carbon theme is replaced by prosilver_dark now.
AI has written a extension to change all the theme files automatically, which is awesome ! I'm looking into dark theme ABBC to see if it can be made dark as well now..
