I need to get the MTX512's keyboard working better too. It's got the same key switches as the Beeb and you know how they can get if the machine's been stored in a damp environment.

Ok, just had to pay the remainder of the cost of the event premises today.

I will be having a look round the hall on Monday evening Thursday afternoon to let exhibitors know what sort of facilities there are and taking a few photos to post here.

If there is anything specific you need to have there, now would be a good time to chip in. :D

Have booked an 'exhibitor' ticket & will probably bring My STE, STFM and Falcon to demo the accelerators and field questions.

I'll bring some tools down ... I have a Telephone board which allegedly has a 68060 under a heatsink which would be fun to remove.

Would anyone offer in diagnosis services on motherboards? Guess its not really the environment for this sort of thing?

One thing I will make note of on the hall visit, is the Amperage rating for the power outlets. Like we discussed the last time we were talking about hosting an event, I will have a look to see if there is a ring mains in the kitchen (i.e. 20A+) that we can split down to a good power level for all who need it.

With the exhibitor numbers rising, this may become more on topic, so I will find out so we have it covered if necessary.

I only have a Mega ST which will be showing off the Twin shifter board, but I can put it to task if needed and can bring however many spare MIDI leads I have (3-4 perhaps?).

Hmmm..Whilst we can use diag. carts and the like, I must try to steer activities away from any risk of electrical conductivity through event attendees.

Is it not something you can post the details of on the forum?

Given how The Centre for the History of Computing run three tables of BBC Micros and Microvitec CUB monitors (6 machines and monitors) off a single 13A socket suggests wattage isn't going to be an issue, especially if most displays are LCDs. Remember that old machines weren't power hungry beasts. I think the Falcon's PSU is rated at about 30 watts... so that's 0.125 amps at 240V. A CRT display will probably be ~100W, ~0.4A.

It may be a good idea to put an RCD trip switch on the mains socket just in case though.

P.S. I've just checked the Memotech... It's a power hungry brute! A whole 5 Watts, maximum. Hehe.

@viking272 Sadly not this one...a mix of a clash of dates with a family event (my uncle's 90th birthday/60th wedding anniversary) and then a lack of funds for the fuel there & back (about 300 miles each way).

No rush for the box back just yet, so hopefully this one will be a huge success & another will be organised for late this/next year.

The other option is if anybody is coming down from anywhere on the North Yorkshire coast (Scarborough/Brid area) or anywhere near Mansfield & wouldn't mind me collecting it from them at some point...

I make that around 550W at full swing!

Fortunately, I'm unable to bring that behemoth (it neither works and I can't lift it anyway), but you can see why I'm worried about covering all eventualities...who knows what other contraptions may turn up! :lol:
