Re: 1040STE don't like floppy drive
Hi There !
So I'm back with some news :
I changed the DMA controler for another -38 picked up from a 1040STF that was fine.
And... it works !! Well not totaly. In fact it now displays the desktop with A and B drives. I can read a floppy and display the files and directories on it.
But when I run a PRG the STE bombs and reboots, sometimes it bombs when I just open a folder.
So I change the 1772 floppy controler too but this made no change.
I even desolder the 1772 pull ups fix (mandatory 4) but there, again ... no change.
Here is a little video fo what happens.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9YuXGS ... e=youtu.be
I must admitt that i'm a bit stucked now as I nearly changed all what could be... except the ROMS. Do you thing the Roms could be the faulty chips ? Or perhaps just a problem on the motherboard track...
Any more suggestions ?

@doc I read through this and noticed you haven't tried the cpu/address bus resistor changes or the 1k resistor pullups on the LS chip.

Can you run YAART either from floppy or cart ? I would also suggest resoldering all the CPU pins, maybe even the RAM, clean the contacts as well.. I say as its more like its getting corrupt RAM somehow.. Loading a corrupt program doesn't normally reset the whole machine, its like the address being accessed is wrong and trashing lower ram or something..

Re: 1040STE don't like floppy drive
@Steve I already archieve this mod but I had no result.
@exxos I resoldered the CPU, RAM et much more but nothing more.
At the end i think it is time for me to put it on the shelves for parts... I tried, you tried and thank you very much for that. I learnt a lot thanks to you all guys. But I'm sure I'll have some more question for so more ATARI ST in the future ;)

Re: 1040STE don't like floppy drive
you could send me the board to look at, but can't promise when id get chance to look at it. If there is some odd DMA related issue then I really want to know what it is...
