I have about 15x of the 288s stocked up at home and will most likely buy them from UTSource from now on. I will be definitely voting with my wallet here. By and large, digikey has lost me as a customer because of this crap.
That being said, I cringe when I receive these chips from china wrapped in cling-wrap then packed in a regular plastic bag. I know these chips are pretty hardy but c'mon!

If I get them from digikey they are in a proper tray in an antistatic bag with moisture control in another bag.

Received 2 Xilinx chips today from digikey, have a look at the packaging wow :-o
2 times 2cm square chips in a 33 x 23 x 23 cm box
Have ordered these before and the box is usually less than half this size

Must have been reading this thread, and thought if we send it in a bigger box that will justify the 50aud (25 quid) chip price tag

In its latest newsletter, EBV says that "Xilinx price increase on mature designs has been postponed until October 2020", maybe this is related?

Yeah I was surprised to get a huge box for just 2 chips as well! Maybe they have a surplus of trays?

Don't think they normally hike prices like what we saw, hoping that was just some algorithm misfiring due to recent events. Mouser is still at $90+, but they did hike their prices later as well..
