Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
Sounds like @derkom will be winning the booby prize for breaking his board instead of me this time. But theres still time for me to destroy the second one yet
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
To be fair, I don't think my board ever worked. It just wasn't until I started working with DMA that I had it turned on long enough to crash. :DPhilC wrote: 02 Jan 2020 19:58 Sounds like @derkom will be winning the booby prize for breaking his board instead of me this time. But I think @exxos said the contest ended January 1, so maybe having a broken board insulates me from winning the booby prize. :geek:

Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
Unfortunately I've tied myself up in knots trying to fix my Mega 4 (After I broke it to be fair), though it wasn't in the best of order when it arrived.
I will try and post some progress pics this weekend.
Time was really against me in the last 3 months of 2019, as I had to go into London for work a lot, and had a really heavy workload. The workload is temporarily slower ATM due to change freezes and year end meaning I can't get stuff done, plus as of today I can now work from home 4 days a week, so fingers crossed I will get a bit more time back.

To be fair @derkom , I believe your in contention for a number of awards. I have no idea what the awards are but you maybe in the lead for worst burn received in the H4 build. Although we didn't have awards in the REMAKE build @rubber_jonnie received a nasty finger injuring by picking up the business end of his soldering iron.

Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
It's true, my finger was well and truly scorched, mostly due to my ninja like reactions taking precedent ove the carpet, and me catching the iron rather than dropping it. Now I also have a de-soldering gun, so more surface area to burn myself on, though it at least has a pistol grip meaning it is less likely to be dropped.PaulJ wrote: 02 Jan 2020 20:22 To be fair @derkom , I believe your in contention for a number of awards. @rubber_jonnie would love to see your build pictures. Do some close ups and will take a gander for anything suspicious. Don't make any issues as obvious as @PhilC did, need a little bit of a challenge. :D

Still waiting for my two boards (one part assembled I hope, the other a bare PCB) to arrive... otherwise I would probably be a contender for the last working build

It will be interesting to see if the built boards just work or need a little trouble shooting to get things running.

Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
I'm still not sure how much of it will be assembled...I think most if not all of the SMT components were going to be fitted, not sure about the other parts though :roll:PaulJ wrote: 02 Jan 2020 20:43 It will be interesting to see if the built boards just work or need a little trouble shooting to get things running.
I can imagine that they won't have been tested after assembly so a few niggles are likely.

Re: MONGREL REMAKE H4 COMPETITION
@JezC A lot of stuff will be assembled... I pretty much wanted to get them to a state where it would just need the custom ST chips fitting... In fact this was in the BOM as I was saying theres like £100 worth of parts on the thing, thats excluding the rear sockets I think.. I tried to keep the price down as much as possible, but that was basically as good as things could get.
