@exxos - telnet isn't installed as standard on recent Windoze versions so you have to add it via the "Turn windows features on or off" option under control panel, programs and features (or at least that's where it lurks for Win 7)

telnet is disappearing from Linux systems too. The powers that be have decided that (a) it's a security risk (it's not if you know what you're doing), and (b) "we" MUST protect noobs from doing bad security things. This also means that ftp is disappearing too.

(And then there is the idiocy of the OpenSSH brigade about to remove scp and "thou shalt use SFTP instead" when scp is the most appropriate tool for most sysadmin type stuff... but the devs don't use it so it's obviously OK to get rid of it.)

That would be a shame. I'm running Kubuntu here on my laptop and it still has it (so far).

At least, no recent updates have changed anything. :(

Just to let everyone know, we are having some power issues here in E. Kentucky.

Power went off around 8pm Monday night and didn't come back on until around
1pm today. Then, right in the middle of trying to answer Doc Clu's PM about 
DarkForce being down, it went off again, but only for a few minutes. Now, the
weather forecast is for 3-5" of new snow and possibly ice tonight, so...

Who knows?

I've got UPS's on all my machines but nothing that lasts longer than an hour or so.

So...if you call and can't get through, it's probably another outage. Rest assured though,
we'll be back up ASAP once power is restored...again...and again...and again...  :)
