Sounds like Basic is loaded. Are you holding the option key down whilst booting the machine to disable it? (Sorry if this is a silly question)Most of the Galaxian images fail with "ERROR- xxx AT LINE 0" (forgotten the number). This also happens with all the versions on the FujiNet servers.

I only have the FujiNet at the moment as the A8PicoCart order hasn’t been confirmed yet.rubber_jonnie wrote: 05 Jan 2026 00:29 Is this from the Picocart or the Fujinet? I know most if not all of the stuff I sent over should work fine, it does on my own machines.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

It’s loaded, just like all the other images from within FujiNet by hitting the Option button after mounting the image into drive 1.Acsi wrote: 05 Jan 2026 02:19 Sounds like Basic is loaded. If I can get a chance I will see if I can load Galaxians on my 800XL using Fujinet and SD card.stephen_usher wrote: 05 Jan 2026 07:42I only have the FujiNet at the moment as the A8PicoCart order hasn’t been confirmed yet.rubber_jonnie wrote: 05 Jan 2026 00:29 Is this from the Picocart or the Fujinet? Re: General Stuff(tm)
OK, so selecting Galaxians.atr from the SD (Atari/Games/Galaxian.atr) and inserting it into the virtual drive you need to press and hold OPTION and it will boot straight into Galaxians. Holding OPTION forces BASIC to be disabled at boot.
If you forget and press and immediately release OPTION you will receive the "ERROR- xxx AT LINE 0" message. You can at this point still boot by holding down OPTION and pressing/releasing RESET. It will then boot.
The Fujinet really would have been better not using OPTION to boot IMHO as it suggests just tapping it to boot, but you have to hold it down to disable BASIC.
This reminds me that I should probably update the firmware on my own Fujinet...
This is one reason why I like the SDriveMax, it behaves much more like a normal Atari 810 or 1050 drive so all the normal function key operations behave as expected. The Fuji isn't quite the same.

BTW, Fujinet firmware is a piece of cake, mine is now up to the latest version, not that there are any really noticeable differences.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Thanks for the Option holding tip, that worked.
Still no news about my RetroLemon order but the S-Video cable arrived from Cool Novelties.
Unfortunately the chroma signal is rubbish...
I'm not blaming the cable, it must be something inside the 800XL. I'll have to take a look after I've done some pension paperwork later.

Has your machine got a chroma mod? The XLs generally didn't have it connected for some bizzare reason and expected most people to just go with composite. I'm assuming yours is using an Svideo cable?
Although this is an NTSC machine, there may be some clues here: 800XL Chroma mod
The 400 and 800 don't need this as they are properly hooked up.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
@rubber_jonnie I just fitted the chroma mod.... It could do with a capacitor on that wire but there's not enough depth to fit one.
Anyway, it makes no difference. I think the display I'm using only pretends to do s-video and is instead only displaying composite. Never mind.
Still nothing from Retro Lemon so I'm guessing that any orders placed after he closed shop on the Friday before Christmas have just gone bye-bye. I'd ordered just before 5pm on the 19th and didn't get any confirmation e-mail.
P.S. It looks like it got stuck in the cart. Gone through now.

The chap at RetroLemon is pretty good, I'd ping them to see what's what. Sounds like the order didn't do through though :(stephen_usher wrote: 06 Jan 2026 15:14 @rubber_jonnie I just fitted the chroma mod.... It could do with a capacitor on that wire but there's not enough depth to fit one.

Have you tried tweaking the colour pot at all? Can help, and it's the only pot on the board so easy to find :)
I would say that I use some of my un-modded XLs with plain old composite and they work just fine.
Also, there is a small number of machines with bad GTIAs where the colour is off and some things don't work. You can get a fixer to plug in under the bad GTIA that makes things good again.
On the SDriveMax image I gave you there is a directory that starts MGI_ and you can use sysinf~1.atr to test for the GTIA bug in the testing menu.
Also in the same folder is a directory called IGOR. Run IGORA.ATR and this will give a flame effect, and if not then the GTIA is bad.
