And now FreHD is complete, next thing is to look at what's what now I have a time machine...

Here we are booted with a choice of hard disks/DOSes to select from:

It looks and feels like DOS, but there are a lot of differences:

PXL_20231209_144459839.jpg

For example, you use the KILL command to delete files and there are no drive letters, only drive numbers like :0 or :1 etc.

And yes, it has games!!!

Scramble:

Donkey Kong:

Galaxians:

Pacman:

And even Bezerk:

And having worked out how to transfer files into the virtual disks (Theres a Windows app called TRSTools) I even had a mess around with the assembler editor:

So there's quite a lot to unpack here :)

Very much enjoying it, and the keyboard is really nice on these old machines.

It’s nice to see those blocky graphics and the creativity programmers had to use to make games look good as well as play good.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

What's great is that all of the games are instantly recognisable, despite the blockiness, and they all play well for sure.

What was great is that some were written by Bill Hogue of Bounty Bob fame and Big Five Software, it pleased me no end to see that.

Some good stuff in just 48k.

For sure they were.

In the UK we had such a range of machines, it seemed like a new one appeared weekly.

Oh, that's a very close representation to the arcade version, within the limits, including the zooming in.
