DFB1 Support thread
Re: DFB1 Support thread
Pete, careful with the CPU... The likelihood that it came loose is close to almost impossible. Also the machine would not work at all if it was loose.
Re: DFB1 Support thread
I didn’t leave any jumpers on it did I?
In gembench is it showing higher scores on integer division and rom access, just it does not see any alt ram?

Re: DFB1 Support thread
Frank, I ran Centbench and it reports the FPU at 19Mhz and the CPU at 39Mhz so the acceleration portion is working.
Steve, I took your advice and left the CPU alone.
Foft, As I noted to Frank the acceleration is indeed functioning. ALT-RAM, however is not detected. There aren't any jumpers installed.
Maybe when you flashed in the modified TOS 4.04 it didn't take for some reason. I will attempt to do that this week.
I appreciate everyone's help.

Re: DFB1 Support thread
Yeah perhaps I flashed the unmodified tos by mistake, if so sorry!
Re: DFB1 Support thread
No apology needed. I really appreciate your quick responses and hopefully all gets sorted.
Re: DFB1 Support thread
Anders' FASTRAM.PRG will detect and declare any TT-RAM if the OS hasn't done so:-
https://github.com/agranlund/tftools/bl ... astram.prg
Although, please bear in mind I think this particular version requires a cold boot each time to declare the RAM.
It'll at least let you test easily enough. Just pop it in your AUTO folder. You'll see that TT-RAM is working easlily enough at the Desktop: if you don't have NVDI running all the icons will be corrupted and the using menus will probably crash the system!
DFBFLASH.TTP (https://github.com/dh219/DFB/blob/main/ ... bflash.ttp) is all you need to replace the OS on the flash ROM.
I think you can find a modified version of TOS4 on this thread somewhere. Else, instructions on how to make one to your personal requirements are here, if you have a posix machine with the appropriate compilers and assemblers installed: https://github.com/dh219/toshack
Cheers,
BW

Re: DFB1 Support thread
Quick question to the awesome folks here. Big thanks to Foft for the board! It's working just dandy.
I decided I wanted to try out emutos on the falcon and so grabbed the dfbflash tool and the bog standard 1.2.1 512k version and tried flashing it following the steps on BW's video.
It bombed out at the validation step (so the custom flashed TOS 4.04 is also gone now). I did try to reflash using the modified TOS 4.04 found on this thread and it also failed at the validation step.
The falcon and board work flawlessly otherwise both with the accelerator and without (as far as I can tell).
Any ideas to try?
Thanks to all!

Re: DFB1 Support thread
Welp, just like Coonsgm my unit also crashes out during the verification stage. I tried with the modified TOS and standard TOS 4.04. The DFB1 is now non functional and I have to boot the Falcon with the DFB1 disabled.
I am in NTSC land. I wonder if that has something to do with it.
Suggestions?

Re: DFB1 Support thread
You should be able to just boot with the flash disabled. You can then use Fastram and NVDI in the auto folder to run it. Mine still works just great with the flash disabled.
Re: DFB1 Support thread
Oh thanks, I'll try that!
