Bloody annoying if I'm honest, I really thought my original expansion card was dead and bought another, but now it turns out to be a bad solder joint. Hey ho I suppose, it is at least fixed and shows that doing proper diagnostics does get you to the right result.

When I recently pulled the Mac Classic out again to play around with the BlueSCSI, I noticed that it kept on crashing if the machine was left on for a couple of hours, usually a finder problem.

Seems that booting from ROM and this problem doesn't exist, so I'm thinking I need to either update to System 7.5.5 and see what happens, or downgrade to system 6.0.8. Lets see what I can find.

What OS are you running currently?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

It's B1-7.0, so I think it should be ok. It's a clean install, so nothing on there to go wonky other than the OS.

If you've plenty of memory then 7.5.5 is probably best.

At home I have an image of a CDROM which contains every language release of 7.5.3 and an upgrade program form 7.5.3->7.5.5 so you can have a British localised Mac Classic with a "Wastebasket" :-)

I'll let you know, thanks, I'm just downloading some images from Macintosh Repostitory, I'll see how I get on with those, but I may come knocking for an ISO :)

Cool, thank you sir.

For now I have installed 6.0.8L as it's only 2 floppies, written using HFV Explorer, will see how it holds up with the earlier OS, though later than the ROM based OS.

OK, well that was weird...

The Mac started screaming like it was being murdered and then wouldn't power on for 5 minutes without giving an error message!!!

It's back on now and booted using the ROM, but I'm wondering if the HDD is dying and that's the issue. Lets see what it does when it isn't using it.

Might have to revisit BlueSCSI.
