Oh no.

I had that type of iron attached to a Hakko style iron & hotair station. The iron was actually really good on it. The element failed at some point. I spent ages trying to find a compatible element and never found a match - the iron never reached the temperature indicated on the station. I opened the supply to see if i could tweak it and .... the insides were just hilarious. Hot glue and everything. I put it back together, binned it and bought another, better one. Unfortunately the iron on the new one is crap.

The only decent iron I have left now is the TS80.

Problem is is there are loads of seemingly compatible irons but just cannot really risk it. Various voltages and wattages never mind the pinout is actually different or not.

Seem to be around £20 so not too diabolical I guess.

But what about my chair repairing skills ? pretty sure I could make a living out of that.

Though according to my mate, when Super Glue is heated up gives off cyanide fumes. According to the Internet Super Glue is actually made of cyanide but does not make it into the final product. Learn something new everyday.
