Those turned header pins are impossible to desolder. The Hakko fails due to the solder between the shoulder and the pad on the opposite side of the board and hot air, even with Kapton tape, melts the plastic before the solder releases its grip.

In desparation I was trying to recover the other header pin strip from the Mk.I board and ended with most of the pins still thoroughly welded to the PCB and a melted mess.

Let's hope that Royal Mail (Deuche Poste) actually get around to delivering the packages Exxos sent at the beginning of the week tomorrow. I'm completely stuck now.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Well, it's gone past the usual time the signed-for postie turns up and still no packages from @exxos. *sigh*

How long should I wait until raising the alarm about lost packages?

Must be a delay somewhere as would be unlikely 2 packages would go missing.

@stephen_usher There was another couple of orders to Oxford which got there in 2-4 days... It might be worth ringing up your local post office to see if they have the packages because sometimes they don't simply leave cards..

OK, I'll do that in the morning.

Previously orders from you have arrived next day without issue.

Dawn was saying your other orders went to a uni address, your last ones going to I assume home address. Though with covid and lockdowns and near xmas, the post is going to grind to a halt anyway soon :(

Yeah. Though my RS Components order, which was shipped on Monday (again by Royal Mail), arrived on Tuesday without delay. Northampton's not that far from Derby in the grand scheme of things. :-)
