I seem to remember an Amiga Dip version...
Would this work in an Amiga 500?
(It would be strange for them to make a completely new design...)

Yes - it is ATonce286. Seems it is same hardware for Amiga and for Atari :) Only software differs.
There is no way to run ATonce-386SX on Amiga because control software doesn't exist.
They have GoldenGate as advanced PC emulator from Vortex
