Don't download drivers directly from Nvidia and try to install them, it's not like Windows, that'd be a lot of pain. I think there is a tool inside your OS that automatically installed the drivers for you.

Re: exxos's linux mint install blog
I found on a Ubuntu forum there was a auto driver install command which installed a LOT of stuff. I can see a lot more graphical animations inside steam now. But now the game just goes to a black screen and nothing happens. If I alt-tab the screen actually refreshes and I see the game but I can also see the animations are still running incredibly slow
Overall it seems installing the drivers has actually made things worse  I'm struggling to even get steam to load now :( Unless anyone has any ideas, then I just think games in Linux I just not going to work. :(

Re: exxos's linux mint install blog
Think this is what I ran "sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall" for future me
This is how it ran before
And now
So :WTF:
There was something going on in the taskbar near the clock, I forget what it said, something about system synchronising or something  When it finished everything started to work a lot better
Had to hold the camera to video it so its looking a bit crap. Also could not fire any rockets as ran out of hands, but the effects are a lot better presumably because of a later version of DX ?

Re: exxos's linux mint install blog
Ooh well that's good news 😁
Possibly could be using a newer kind of directx depending on what the game engine supports. In Linux proton converts directx to Vulkan on the fly, it's called dx2vk as far as I know.
