Installed one of these successfully last night, and wow I'm honestly quite blown away by the image quality. My STFM has a C070859 board and the video output was already pretty good on it, but it did have some jailbar patterns on some colors. None of that now. Crisp and crystal clear. Amazing. And I didn't have the issue of having to max out the contrast after installing it either like someone else mentioned. The contrast and brightness level seem identical to me, just very clean looking now.

Another thing that's been an issue on this motherboard was that when displaying certain fullscreen effects parts of the image would sometimes be kinda "wavy" and sort of unstable. That has also been remedied by this mod. I didn't expect that so that's a very nice side effect.

The only thing left in terms of noise in the signal seems to be from whenever the CPU is doing something, accessing RAM perhaps. There's a bit of faint rolling lines in the image when this happens, only visible on darker colors such as dark grey etc. That was there before as well, but is perhaps a bit easier to see now that the image is otherwise so clear looking. Is there anything that can be done for that?

Something else I noticed is that the DAC IC becomes quite toasty. It's easily the hottest chip in the computer now. Seems to depend on what's on the screen. Is that normal? Should I just put a heatsink on it?

Yes, those chips get hot it’s ok but if you feel like putting a heat sink it may help to dissipate the heat better.

Good to know. I think I'll do that. Cheers!

Edit: 14x14x6mm heatsink fits perfectly and is slightly lower height compared to the Shifter chip in its socket.

Do you have the combined version with Ram extension Jack and ramdac in your shop yet? It is a great idea to do so!
