@Tomswork

I'm wondering if you might be able to help with identifying my Apple IIe mainboard, as I want to try and work out if it's Rev A or B.

I know some boards were Rev B but marked A, so I'm confused!

The model number is: A2S2064P
Mainboard is: 820-0073-A
Mainboard is also marked: B607-0664
Serial number looks to be 1583 and it is date stamped 1982, PAL revision.

I've spent ages digging, and also asked on Applefritter, but so far no results.

@rubber_jonnie

The apple boards are a pain to identify there was a narrow case as well about 2cm less wide. I believe you had have a later model revision A board a board but the test is to see if is a enhanced model. I did not see the enhanced badge in the pictures

Board models go in order of early a early b later a later b
The numbers show the order

I did some more digging and believe you're correct.

I read that for it to be enhanced the display should read Apple //e at boot, but mine simply says Apple ][, so I think you're correct and it isn't enhanced, but that is fine as it won't be used heavily, mostly for nostalgic trips down memory lane :)

So, RIFAs are done in the Apple ][, and here are the old ones:

I've left them full size so that you can hopefully see the crazing in the plastic that ultimately leads to failure. I don't think these were long for this world TBH. The first one isn't a great pic, but the second really does show it.

Two new X2 class caps in place and no smoke :)
