@popeymon Get yourself a USB to serial adaptor. This is how I connect my Mac to diagnose serial output from a drag cart or diagrom. I use an app called TerraTerm.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

You can get USB to RS232 adaptors to use with NULL modem cables. I use one on my Mac.
