Re: Sandord - progress
I'm super fed up with my current soldering station. I really want to have something decent when starting to work on the remake board.
Do you guys reckon this would be a good choice? https://www.weller-tools.com/professional/EUR/en/54308
I've always had the notion of this brand being top notch. But perhaps I've been brainwashed

I have to admit that a soldering iron with password protected settings is bordering insanity.sandord wrote: Sat Oct 27, 2018 9:26 pm I'm super fed up with my current soldering station. I really want to have something decent when starting to work on the remake board.

Re: Sandord - progress
I like Weller soldering irons.
I bought a couple of Maplin soldering irons before they closed, I think anything with good temperature control and replaceable tips and holders is a good idea.

I did the same got a A55Kj from Maplin when closing. They are many different clones out there - https://www.rapidonline.com/atten-at938 ... on-85-6920Forgottenmyname wrote: Sat Oct 27, 2018 10:44 pm I like Weller soldering irons.

I think Exxos also has a similar station observed from some of his photos.
Re: Sandord - progress
I currently have a temperature controlled station (Velleman) but after tens of hours of use (not consecutively) the iron starts dropping temperature a lot. I replaced the iron (I could not get off the tip) but the same problem comes back after tens of hours. It wasn't even that cheap, think it was 50 euros. So I definitely want something more reliable.
I think I'll go for the Weller but perhaps a model that's a little less expensive. Who needs passwords on their soldering iron anyways

Re: Sandord - progress
Well you never know when that sneaky person might come in to use your soldering station and finish the board for you and steal or your fun. Thats why you need a password on your soldering iron.sandord wrote: Sat Oct 27, 2018 11:28 pm I currently have a temperature controlled station (Velleman) but after tens of hours of use (not consecutively) the iron starts dropping temperature a lot.
