I've had a similar issue with my Beeb B case recently. With blotches all over the case, regardless of position of cling film, etc. I did a second case along side it at the same time which ended up fine.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I've got another Electron on the way with a dodgy brown case, I may try the immersion method whilst we have hot weather.

I found RAL 7038 to be a good match if you prefer painting instead of retrobright.
Used it on my ST after filling some existing and making new connector cutouts on the backside.

Thanks! It does look ike a better match than the Stone Grey from Retroleum.

Things are going forward today... Looks like I have a completion date for the sale of my Dad's house... 19th August, and I've booked in the house clearance for the 16th.

On a whim I tried wiping down the Mega 2 ST with 70/30 LPA/Water and magically a lot of the brown mottling came off with some scrubbing. There are a few areas where the plastic has bleached a bit though, so I think I'm probably going to have to respray anyway...

The paint @agranlund suggested came today, so I can try respraying.

Here's the difference that some 70% IPA has made to the Mega 2.

The tissues used had a brownish tint.

Similar effect with soapy water and lots of scrubbing.

Well, the actual retrobrightening has only lightened the plastic slightly. The location where a monitor had stood on top is still significantly lighter than the surrounding plastic, so I think a re-spray is the proper way forward.

Not a huge amount of retro-computing recently other than setting up one of the QLs with the MiCE ROM and mouse so that I can edit the first page in the demo I wrote for Sinclair QL World in 1988 to be the basis of a T-shirt design. This lead me down a rabbit hole finding the "Lightning" floppy and the ancillary programs so as to load nicer looking fonts than the system one.

Anyway, other than that, a model railway loco I pre-ordered nearly three and a half years ago has finally arrived. At the time it seemed expensive at just over £200 including the DCC sound fitting etc. but today that feels like an absolute bargain relative to Bachmann and Hornby's recent pricing. For Bachmann you're looking at £200 for the base loco, then add £100 for the DCC and another for the special features.

Anyway, it's a nice loco and precisely fits the location and time of the railway I'm modelling (eventually), i.e. the Southern Midland Mainline in the early 1980s, as the original loco was stationed at Cricklewood depot and spent all its time in the area and helping with the electrification of the line up to Bedford.

Oh, and it came in a nice tin with a note pad.

A lot better than the Heljan model for only about 1.5x the price.
