I was refering to this post Exxos https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =40#p70990
where the sound would work once.. then gone.. so I did the 100k resistor and that fixed it.. but now I have this sound issue.
I will check it all out.. thanks for posting.. I will examine the audio circuit and my fixes.. and my soldering AGAIN

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
@Bikerbob I just wanted to let you know that I tested my H5 sound output for the first time yesterday, I also get lots of background electrical static noise. It's worth mentioning mine is the A3 version with the extra Winamp small PCB fix installed. So this isn't just an isolated thing on your board, mine has it too.
I have a theory that most people just haven't properly tested their sound yet. Probably due to it not being a straight forward thing, like there being a place to install an audio jack on the mobo etc. Luckily Exxos is an audio technician so I'm sure he'll work it out. Perhaps the audio stage just needs some low/high pass filters.

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
The "winamp" boards would indeed have the same problem as the new audio circuit on the C1. The fixes which were devised for the C1 Would also need to be done for the "winamp" boards. I don't think many did the "winamp" board mods as it was a prototype for the C1 circuit.
The fixes were tried by someone else on the C1 originally and verified to work. I have the same fault on my C1 but i've not done the fixes yet. I don't have the problem when the MIDI X2 module is plugged in on another C1.
I will verify the published fixes work for my C1 when I get chance. But really they have already been tried. As to why they do not work for @Bikerbob I really don't know.

@exxos Is there anything published about modifying the winamp board to reduce noise? I'll give it a go.

No, but its the same circuit in the C1..Steve wrote: 02 Jun 2022 16:33 @exxos Is there anything published about modifying the winamp board to reduce noise? I'll give it a go.
I just quickly tried it and there is something odd going on  I think it does not help because my TV turns off when sound is very low so I was not aware of any problems

I think I see what the problem is. Will work on a quick fix.

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
I am sorry if I seem thick... but there is a whole lot of information here.
The thread you point to here has SEVERAL fixes in it.. am I doing them all? or just doing the last one.. UNDOing the one I did.. and then re-doing with the last fix in that thread?

@Bikerbob, I believe it’s all of them.
I am about to do the same tomorrow evening on an H5 C1 I built recently.

OK, please show some pics .. I will show what mine looks like now.. if I need to reverse anything I have already done I could really use help figuring this out.Icky wrote: 09 Jul 2022 22:03 @Bikerbob, I believe it’s all of them.

I am reducing my machine inventory, and someone asked me about my H5c1.. I said.. I love it.. Love that I built it.. but if I can't get it usable.. then what's the point? The level of "electronic noise" I am experiencing makes this sit on a shelf. maybe it's something I've done.. but I cannot find any errors or bad connections etc. I admit I am not good with a scope yet.. I have not learned or had enough practice, and I don't know the circuits well enough to just figure out where I need to be looking. Any and all help is appreciated.
