(such a nice machine, not at all jealous..)

Those old ceramic mfp’s really do look nice. Do yours run quite hot as well compared to the plastic ones?

On the toasty side yes. I think they are 4 or 5MHz parts.

Not going to heatsink them - they can burn in style :p

Some complicated driver errors. Driver = person behind wheel.

First problem was finding a bad IC on wheebay instead of going premium.

Second problem was not soldering all the pins on the microscopic RAM chips - and then checking them with a microscope multiple times but not actually checking shoulder-to-pad continuity on all of them.

Third problem was trying to use a selection of PC USB-RS232 cables which don't understand how to RS232.


Or maybe it was just upset with me plugging PCs & Macs into it constantly. Things all started to go smoothly when the pizzabox Atari appeared. :D
