I have also tested the FlashFloppy File Selector and can confirm that it does not work for me either with the HD modification active.

It would not even attempt to recognise the AUTOBOOT.HFE file until I had the Pin 2 setting in FF.CFG With the Pin 2 setting, it attempts to load the AUTOBOOT File Selector and errors with "LBA Change Test Failed ! Write Issue?"

The 1.44 GAL shouldn't affect anything. Though I can't say for gotek as I never used , or own one. I would try with a proper floppy drive.. I assume you did this though ? https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 893#p31893

EDIT:

Has anyone else tried gotec with the GAL and had it working ?

EDIT2:

Does gotek even work with 1.44 floppies ? Last I knew it didn't and wouldn't work at 16MHz.

The Gotek works fine with both 720kb and 1.44mb images on the H4 with the HD mod as long as you don't want to use the File Selector to set images into slots.

The special AUTOBOOT.HFE is the disk image used by the HxC and FlashFloppy firmware to manage disk slots. The main use is for the 7 segment display as the filenames are not shown.

My HD Mod guide covers using the Gotek drive (with FlashFloppy firmware).

Yes the gotek does work in 1.44 and 720k mode and works with the H4 except when attempting to use the slot manager tool. The tool attempts some checks up front one of which is the a lba change test which fails. @kodak80 points out one doesn't need to use the slot manage. I have just swapped over and going to test the H4 again. Suspect the mega works because it doesn't support HD floppies.

No, stock machine does not have the hardware to read the HD output of the gotek. I just put the gotek back on the H4 and it works fine using the indexed mode. You can now use an assortment of 720k and 1.44mg disk images. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

Well, with regards to the NetUSBee some people on the Atari Forum have managed to extract the schematic:

http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=38738

I wonder if the issue is that the 74LS chips are just too slow and need the faster versions.

(I tried to attach the PDF but the board wouldn't allow me to.)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
