Fixing my Milan 040 (or not) blog

Similar problems when I uses to sell the 060 cpus. High prices or buy cheap 040 and hope they genuinely.. Not good either way.

040s were used extensively in older telecommunications systems. You can buy Nortel boards with 040s from the reclaimers for £40 or less just ask for the CPU part number because later ones used LC parts.

I have a 25mhz one. I was just looking for the later mask 40mhz version.

I found my Milan would run at 30MHz but not at 33MHz and SCSI would not work at 30 either.

Im going to start pulling stuff out for CL4 soon. I'd say theres a fair chance I have one of these in my famous boxes of leads. If you can hang on 2-3 days I will have a look and post it to you if I do.

I wasn't thinking of selling no. I might do one day if I find myself never using it though. But currently I never had a 040 machine. So be interesting to play around with it.

I need to solder the missing big IO chip. Waiting for it to come currently. I changed the battery earlier. I ordered a new PCI slot.. so waiting for that to come.. I ordered a PS2 adapter from evilbay. But not sure what I am doing about the mouse yet.

Its classed as a "baby AT" board. So I doubt many cases will fit My girlfriends next door neighbour has a bunch of old PCs. She was trying to give me a old Dell machine the other day. Possible she might have a even older PC somewhere... but shes busy having a mental breakdown at the moment so..

I need to change the chip anyway yet. It may not fix it, I may kill it again.. I need to go look for that other 040 CPU I got years ago see what that is as well...

One case I have is 330 x 370 and the other is 260 x 335, but you may have one next door

Just found the other 040 CPU. This was "probably" the one which came with the Milan.. No idea what it is tough. The heatsink is glued on

But I assume its a 25mhz part as that was the default the Milan is setup to anyway.
