PhilC wrote: 30 Mar 2020 21:24 I think you've had some of my luck @rubber_jonnie with regards to the ide boards. Although I will probably order a couple more when @exxos store is open again. I mean, my luck cant be that bad.

If nothing else I'll enjoy the fault finding when I get time.
@PaulJ Presuming you have done the bodge wires on the back of the V1.1C IDE boards, I assume you've checked for shorts because a couple of them are very close together. I did wire up on pin on baord 2 one pin out which caused some consternation, but it worked as soon as I moved it.
I could put @PhilC 's patches in but he would have to send the board. ;) Your absolutely correct, as soon as one moves a wire from the wrong place to the proper spot it immediately works better.. (usually) I believe @PhilC has more issues with orientation than location. Rj, you're suffering from cabin fever and not terminating the usual number of dumb a$$e$ you would have encountered during your normal daily routine. :( :( :(

Thanks to my OCD and the frequent reminders from @PaulJ , I'm confident in my rotational skills but that might be the lot.

The multimeter and scope are coming out to play shortly.

That's the first board fixed then. Time for dinner and then on to the next one.

Never use yellow wire.

@PaulJ Hmm, well there must be some sort of social distancing lockdown ongoing, because I'm very short of dumba$$es at the moment.

Cue vague response about what was wrong. So what was wrong @PhilC ?

And is the statement about yellow wire on a par with not eating yellow snow?

Don't know what's its like in GB but getting a little cabin fever here. All non-essential businesses shut down. Just went to grocery store, all in all pretty well stocked but feel like I should take a shower with lots of soap when I get home.

Read @PhilC 's comment and believe he must have fixed his issue... something to do with a yellow wire.. hmm. Good thought, appears everyone has at least 1 IDE 1.1 board running.

In reality it was that the yellow wire appeared to be soldered but instead it was the insulation that was glued enough to resist the tug test.
