Re: TF536 on A2000
I'm looking at getting a TF536 for my A2000, but I would also like to use a cd drive. (SCSI or IDE)
Any suggestions on what card(s) is compatible with the TF536 so I could be able to use a CD drive too :?: (I'm guessing anything non autoconfig and no ram ?)

Sorry my ignorance, but there is a IDE header on TF536, so I thought that you just need connect them with IDE cable, then jumper hard drive to slave and CD-drive to master install proper CD filesystem and all done?

Re: TF536 on A2000
From what I understand the IDE cable has to be of minimal length and I can't say I have seen anyone running a CDrom as master/slave on a TF.. this would be ideal if it works though.utri007 wrote: 01 Sep 2020 19:02 Sorry my ignorance, but there is a IDE header on TF536, so I thought that you just need connect them with IDE cable, then jumper hard drive to slave and CD-drive to master install proper CD filesystem and all done?

Re: TF536 on A2000
You should be ok with a medium length cable (15-20cm?) but you'd need a special cable with a 40 pin connector for the CD ROM. You can also probably use one of the A1200 44 to 40 pin adapters, with or without buffers.ADRRichard wrote: 01 Sep 2020 19:09From what I understand the IDE cable has to be of minimal length and I can't say I have seen anyone running a CDrom as master/slave on a TF.. this would be ideal if it works though.utri007 wrote: 01 Sep 2020 19:02 Sorry my ignorance, but there is a IDE header on TF536, so I thought that you just need connect them with IDE cable, then jumper hard drive to slave and CD-drive to master install proper CD filesystem and all done?

Populate the buffer chips (and remove the RNs under them) and its job done. Its just a cable needed.ADRRichard wrote: 01 Sep 2020 19:09From what I understand the IDE cable has to be of minimal length and I can't say I have seen anyone running a CDrom as master/slave on a TF.. this would be ideal if it works though.utri007 wrote: 01 Sep 2020 19:02 Sorry my ignorance, but there is a IDE header on TF536, so I thought that you just need connect them with IDE cable, then jumper hard drive to slave and CD-drive to master install proper CD filesystem and all done?
Why get a separate buffer when there is one on the TF536 waiting to be populated.

Re: TF536 on A2000
On my reproduction floppie A2000 board, My graphics were garbled on kickstart image and workbench when I used a 8371 Agnus / 512 chip - 512 fast (see attached pic)
It took me a while to swap a few chips about and I found changing Agnus to a 8372A and setting jumper to 1mb has resolved the issue.
I'm using the FT536 in a CPU - co pro socket riser.
It's working fine now with the 8372A but I was just curious as to what the issue could have been, great board btw <3 it!

Re: TF536 on A2000
This is more of an Agnus issue. I had the same issue when I tried to use an older Agnus in a more recent board (I think an A500+ or something).

Re: TF536 on A2000
You cant use an A500+ Agnus in an A2000. Its not the same pinout.
On the A2000 you're options are
All other Agni are the wrong pinout.
On the A2000 you're options are
Code: Select all
8372A - Amiga 500 from Rev 6 (NTSC/PAL); Amiga 2000 model B from Rev 6.0 to Rev 6.3 (NTSC/PAL); Commodore CDTV
8375 (318069-16 only) (PAL) - Amiga 500 from Rev 6 (PAL); Amiga 2000 model B from Rev 6.4 (PAL)
8375 (318069-17 only) (NTSC) - Amiga 500 from Rev 6 (NTSC); Amiga 2000 model B from Rev 6.4 (NTSC)

Re: TF536 on A2000
Yes I did try two 8371's unaware of the compatibility with the older agnus, before trying the 8372a, still, the card is working absolutely perfectly with the 8472A.. so all is good :Dalenppc wrote: 10 Sep 2020 17:30 This is more of an Agnus issue. Loving the card, IDE speed is awesome, 6.5mb! Sandisk 4gb CF :D

Agnus -
I am using the DKB Megachip in My A2000. Has anyone been able to get that working with a TF536?
When I power it on I do get a screen flash and light go on but I never get video and there is no disk access.
My Amiga is NTSC and the mega chip has a 8372AB.
Anyone had any luck with the this Agnus or a 2meg mod?
Thanks in advance.
